Keeping Landen Beautiful
The Design Review Board (DRB) is comprised of 5 regular and 2 alternate volunteers from the community who in cooperation with the Landen Community Services Association (CSA) are selected and appointed by the Landen Community Design Review Board.
The DRB meets on the first Tuesday of each month to review exterior change applications.
In consideration of the protection and privacy of our residents, these meetings are NOT open to the public. If you have an issue that you would like to present to the Design Review Board, please contact the
DRB Manager with the issue and request to be put on the agenda. Issues will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
The DRB is responsible for making sure that ALL exterior changes to your home and landscape meet the guidelines set forth in the Homeowner's/Resident's Guide to Landen. Every property owner and resident should have a copy of this handbook, as well as the Landen Farm CSA Declarations book, as it can answer most questions as to what is and is not acceptable in Landen. If you do not have a copy or your copy of the
Homeowner's/Resident's Guide to Landen is more than two years old, you may obtain one by either downloading the newest versions from this Web site (click the download link on the left) or by requesting that hard copies be sent directly to you by contacting us.
Applying for an Exterior Change to Your PropertyIf you are planning any exterior changes to your home or landscape you MUST submit a
DRB Exterior Change Application, as found by clicking on this link at least one week prior to a DRB meeting and BEFORE you begin any work. You will also find the Exterior Change Application form at the end of the Homeowner's/Resident's Guide to Landen which can be printed and filled out by hand.
When applying for an exterior change, please provide as much information as possible including photos, blueprints, colors, plot map of the property, location of lot lines relative to project, etc. This will help avoid any delays in your application. The fee for submitting and processing an Exterior Change Application for approval by the DRB is $50. Please submit a DRB Exterior Change Application at least one week prior to a DRB meeting and BEFORE you begin any work. If work is completed or started prior to submitting an application, applicant will be required to pay a $50 fee regardless of whether the application is ultimately approved or denied.
There are only two exceptions to this rule. In cases where you are replacing "Like with Like" you do not have to submit an application. An example of "Like with Like" would be replacing your roof with the same color/style shingles or painting your home the same color. The other exception is in emergency situations such as a fire, tree falling, plumbing burst, etc. In emergency situations, we ask that you submit the application within 72 hours of the emergency.
If you are unsure whether or not an application is required, please contact our DRB Manager, Max Schneider,
MaxSchneider@TowneProperties.com, or via telephone at 513-605-7732, and he will be happy to assist you.

Approval and Denial of Applications
After the DRB reviews your application, you will be notified via the mail, or email if you wish, of the DRB decision. Your project will either be approved as is, approved conditionally (conditions will be listed) or denied. If your application is denied there are several options available. Most denial letters will indicate why your project was denied and, if possible, how to remedy the situation so your project can be approved. You can make the recommended changes and reapply.
